Banteay Srei Temple

Banteay Srei Temple, Cambodia – 2018. Banteay Srei, the citadel of the women, is small compared to most of the other Angkor temples. It was built of red sandstone in the tenth century and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. This temple contains the finest, most intricate carvings to be found in Angkor and is located 25 km north-east of the main group of temples. It was discovered in 1914 and cleared some 10 years later then reconstructed during the 1930’s.
